Ma Names Chubby

Ma Daddy's Chubby,
Ma Mamma's Chubby,
and My Dog's are Chubby.

One day my dad took me out for a motorcyle ride
and I said, "faster daddy, faster" and he went faster
and I said, "faster daddy, faster" and he went faster
and I said, "faster daddy, faster" and he went faster
and I said, "Slow down daddy!"

Tonight at dinner I was resting my jowls on my curled up fists and was just looking at my water glass for a minute. I look across the way of the table, which just happens to be the best view of Sam, and see Sam curl up his hands up to his cute chubby cheeks forcing his lips out.

I started to laugh and then launched in to my favorite story as a kid--"My name is Chubby." Sam started to laugh, so I started to laugh more and the story kept going, the motorcycle ride continued, until I was ultimately moving my chubby face to a stretched out face saying enthusiastically, "SlOWWW down Daddddy!" Laughing and laughing as a family I couldn't think of any place with any other people I'd rather be than right there with my family.

Inspired and Touched

This is a video of a plane crash survivor, Stefany Nielsen--Take eight minutes of your time to view this... you will be touched, you will be uplifted you will be inspired.

One Fish, Two Fish, Sam Fish, Blue Fish

A little monkey on the land and a fish in the water, Sammer loves his swimming lessons. He gets so excited when we pull up to the pool and even more excited when his teacher, Lenny, says, "Ok curly haired boy...let's swim." These were taken the other day when they were doing their under water photo session.

Little Friends and Slides!

Sam had a little friend in town, Kien Shapiro, that is about 6 months older. Despite their few territorial moments, they had a great time cruisin' around and bro-ing down.
Since Utah was warmer than their Florida weather (a balmy 50...nice right?), we cruised to the park. The boy charged up the stairs, down the slides and through the tubes. I realized I had a fearless wonder on my hands when he made his way up to the big spiral slide and without flinching, proceeded down head first laughing the entire way. Normally he waits for me to get to the bottom, turns around, feet first on his tummy. I guess that was sooo "baby" for him.

We've Gotta Hot Date

In a couple saturdays from now, Jake and I have a hot date, well to put it more specifically, hot dates...plural. We are heading out on the town with the Moms. Not only do we have a hot date, but great entertainment to boot. The Mom's have great taste in flicks so we're heading to see The Fantastic Mr Fox based on the book by Rhode Dahl here at our independent theatre in SLC.
Here's the trailer for The Fantastic Mr. Fox done by Wes Anderson and starring who?? George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartman, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson. Knock out cast right?

MY FAVES

Drum Roll Please....brrrrrrr...I Samuel Jakob Hodson present to you,
MY FAVES
(as of 1/3/2010 anyway)

Clementines. I can eat 5 at a time...that's 5 whole clementines not slices (5 slices would be for amateurs)

My Dinosaur popup book. I have a lot of popup books but this is the B-E-S-T popup book in the world

The Hungry little catapillar book. I like to find the little egg on the leaf, turn the fruit pages and make the book flap like a butterfly at the very end.

Stuffed Monkeys and Lions and Bears OH MY--

Dancing. I am a dancing machine. When music comes on I just can't help. but. dance. must. dance. must. wiggle. my. body.

The suckers that my mom gives me from time to time that make my Dad just cringe because I'll get dirty and sticky. Really Dad? I'm a toddler. That's my job.

Eating. in fact so much so that when Mom took me to the children's museum out of all the cool things to do there, I wanted to sit at the little table in the play kitchen, pretending to eat food with plastic fork. Best 30 minutes of my time there.

Sesame Street and Elmo. He's such a character but that show is cutting edge (even though some of the segments were from before Mom's time) I heard vintage old-school was the hip new school.

No. I love that word and NOT because my parents say it to me (right mom? right dad?) but I hear them say to the dogs all the time and it's the main word in another favorite book called Find Spot.

Walking like an orangutan is a favorite right now. I'm walking all over the place but it's still secondary to my crawling. I have places to get to people and I'm lightning fast on all fours. When I walk like an orangutan with my arms above my head, it helps me balance and stuff.

Toilets. Aren't they great? I just can't get enough of sticking things in it and it's just the perfect height.

Sweeping. Still can't figure out why this isn't a fave for Mom but I could sweep all day.

Dave Matheson at church. He's just this great bear of a man, that I can climb on, glasses I can pull at and he smells just like a adopted church Grandpa should.

I think that's it for now...oh WAIT!!! My ball popping toy, I almost forgot! How could I forget that toy?! I love to stick the balls in the vent that makes them pop up and out of a tube. And then (wait there's more) I figured out how to make toilet paper get sucked in and shoot out the top. So funny.

**Mom's Note: Here's the pick from Sam waking up on his own at exactly 11:57pm New Year's Eve. The boy, just like his Mom, doesn't want to miss out on a thing!

Here's some other pics from Christmas and such:

This is a Song About Elmo

Love this video--it has Sam's favorite, Elmo, and my favorite, Adam Sandler. Watch Elmo's dancing. When it gets to the chorus he really breaks it down. Just to let you know...it's a catchy little tune that can get easily stuck in your head.
