Sam was cashed the other night for a little cat nap...note the ankles, or should we call them cankles?
A new little family having a hod dog good time. Loving life, loving each other, loving the adventures that come with both. Welcome to the tales and travels of the Hodson Crew.

Swimming!
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Sam and I had a nice break in the day yesterday and went swimming! It was so cute because his face was just like these pictures the entire time. His experience with water this far has been with the bath, with only me, before he goes to bed. So I had to think thoughts like this were going through his mind: Why are there so many people in my bath? This bath is huge! Mom, I am not ready for bed yet. His swim shorts draped him more like swim pants. I think all and all he had a good time and we will definitely be going back for more.

Get In My Belly!
I'm 4 Months Old!
Like my Grandma Foo used to always say to me when she'd see me, I need to put books on this boy's head because he is just growing so fast! He's four months today and it was exactly one year ago on Valentines when we found out this little one was going to be joining our little family. Here's Sam's FOURmost developments:
I love my thumb...paci's are so newborn
I have tried my first solids: smashed avocado and sweet potatoes and liked them both (see food post)
Baths are especially fun for me
I am a fan of the pig now not so much the cow (animals in his carseat)
Little Einstein puppet shows make me squeal and laugh
My chubby little legs are getting a little too big for my diapers
I am able to reach out for and grasp things
I LOVE people and talking
I make funny faces and splashes in the water
I wants it to be spring...yep I told mommy that
Rockabye Coldplay, U2 and Radiohead are my favorites when I'm in the swing
I'm excited to meet my new little girlfriend in Cami's belly :)
Polly and Kaiser are my friends except when they try to kiss me again and again and...
I loves it when my mom sings songs to me
I love giving lots of little kissies on the lips
I can roll half over
I'm a little grumpy when I first wake up and I love to do big full body stretches after I wake up

Why is the cork on the fork?
Watching Sam try and figure out his body and coordinate it reminded me of this classic scene from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels....with a little more effort he'll make it to his mouth and not his eye!

Social Sam
Our little Sam is so social with people, stuffed animals, dogs, the grocer, the big faces on TV. Anyone who will give him a minute and listen to what he has to say, he will tell them all about it. Here are just a few of his real life friends/cousins:
Sam and Van (Van knew exactly what to do when the camera came out!)

Baby Bam and Paige (that's what she calls him)

Sam and Addy

Love the Ergo
Here's just another shout out to the Ergo Baby. It is so mommy and baby friendly (daddy friendly too) and is about 1 million times more comfortable for my body. I also love the hood feature and have used it on more than one occasion to satisfy different needs. When it was snowing and windy, I put the hood up, when Sam was tired and needed "lights out", I put the hood up...Let me just say if you are in the market for a baby carrier or your shoulders and neck are tired from the other ones, check the Ergo out. It's worth every penny.

Song De Jour
So if you haven't checked out Jake's blog SONG DE JOUR yet, I would take a few minutes right now and go visit. In my completely biased opinion, he is such a clever writer. And if you all remember, it was through Jake's writing that he ultimately wooed and won over my heart.
